What is a solar power plant?
A solar power plant is a place where electrics is produced using the power for a given time from the sun. It works by taking sun light through special apparatuses called solar flat square bits, which one who changed beliefs the sun light into electrics. These solar flat square bits are usually positioned on greatly sized open spaces, like fields or rooftops, where they can get great amounts of sun light.
The process of producing electrics from sun light is clean and does not produce damaging pollutants, making solar power a nature friendly and renewable power for a given time starting point. solar power plants are becoming more having general approval as persons in general and governments make attempts to get changed to other form their being dependent on fossil fuels and fight weather, conditions change. They are an important step in the direction of a more able to keep going and greener future.
Types of solar power plant
There are mainly two types of solar power plant (a) thermal solar power power plant (b) photovoltaic solar power plant. These both power plant uses solar energy to produce electricity, the process to generate electricity is different in each case. We will explain below in details how these two facilities work:
Solar thermal Power Plant
A solar thermal plant is a building designed for changing solar energy into electricity through a common thermodynamic wheeled machine. however, unlike thermal power plants that work by using fossil puts gas in, solar thermal power plants use a completely nature friendly energy source like sun light. The technology used to produce electricity is slightly different depending on the sort of solar thermal plant we are talking about, but its operating system is like. A solar thermal power plant gets, comes together at one point the solar radiation to heat a fluid with thermally conductive properties and lift its temperature until it is got changed into steam. It is then got food to a turbine. Here, the thermal energy is got changed into mechanical energy, which is sent to an alternator where its last great change into electricity takes place. Once the thermodynamic wheeled machine has been completed, the steam is returned to an apparatus for making steam into water where it gets back its liquid state 16 and the process is done over again.
From a doing work well point of view, it is important to take into account that the operation of a solar thermal plant is dependent on the hours of good weather and weather conditions. as an outcome of that, these power plants also have a place for storing tank that lets the energy got to be stored to use it when necessary.
Solar photovoltaic power plant
The operation of a solar photovoltaic plant is based on photons and light energy from the sun's rays. The types of solar flat square bits used in these types of buildings are also different. While solar thermal plants use collectors, photovoltaic power plant use flat square bits made up of photovoltaic solar cells made of silicon or polycrystalline solar flat square bits) or other materials with photovoltaic properties (amorphous solar flat square bits).
How does these Solar Cells Work?
when the sun's rays hit them directly, the outer layers of the solar panels absorb the sunlight and create electricity. To make a solar power plant, these solar panels are connected together to form larger units called photovoltaic panels.
These photovoltaic panels are then connected together in groups to a device called a current inverter, which changes the electricity from direct current to alternating current. This type of electricity is what we use in our homes and businesses. After the electricity is converted, it goes through a transformer that adjusts its voltage and intensity, so it can be sent through power lines to where people use electricity, like homes and offices. This way, solar energy can be distributed and used to power various places.
A photovoltaic power plant uses sunlight to make electricity. To make it work better, the plant has a special weather tower. This tower checks the weather to see how sunny it is and how the sunlight changes throughout the day. It also tells us when the sun will set.
By knowing this information, the power plant can figure out when there might not be enough sunlight to generate electricity. So, it stores extra electricity during sunny times to use later when it's not sunny.
There are different kinds of photovoltaic power plants. Some are big ones with solar panels on the ground, like solar farms. Others are on the rooftops of buildings, called solar communities, which generate electricity for those buildings.
At Repsol, they have several photovoltaic projects:
- Kappa: It's in Manzanares, Spain, and gives electricity to around 71,000 homes.
- Valdesolar: It's in Badajoz, Spain, and is the biggest photovoltaic plant there, providing electricity to around 140,000 homes.
- Sigma: It's in Cadiz, Spain, and can produce 204 MW of electricity.
- Jicarilla 2: It's in New Mexico, USA, and can produce 65.2 MW of electricity.
